David Weiner - VP, Research and Development

As early as 1979, Dave was an active computer enthusiast.  He got his first taste of computers and programming by working with some of the earliest available models of Commodore, Texas Instruments, NorthStar, and Apple.  David honed his skills further at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he was a Computer Science Major.

In 1987, Dave joined the US Army and was posted to Wiesbaden, Germany, where he worked with technical aspects of the "Huey", Cobra, Kiowa, Blackhawk and Apache helicopters.  After being honorably discharged in December of 1989, David moved to New York City and decided to pursue a career in computers.  He accepted a position with Cables and Chips, Inc., where he learned hardware diagnostics and repair, network architecture, network topology, and wiring/cabling installation.  As David’s career flourished, he accepted a position with Flagstaff Industries in Bensalem, PA as Director of Computer Operations.  While there, David installed, implemented, and administered their new multi-user UNIX system.  He also designed, created, and developed the custom enterprise applications for Point of Sale, accounting, manufacturing, and data entry.

After leaving Flagstaff, David helped found PhillyNet, Inc., a Philadelphia based ISP.  David was responsible for all start-up operations, equipment selection, and technical systems.  He designed and implemented the TCP/IP network for in-house use.  He also selected, installed, and configured all aspects of high-speed Internet access, including routers, Domain Name Service servers, Apache web servers, analog and digital modem banks, remote access servers, sendmail, Microsoft Internet Information Server, MS SQL Server, and qmail. David was also responsible for the installation, configuration, and development of Secure Electronic Commerce facilities.  David has brought his considerable skill and expertise to WebMasters, establishing our new web servers, dial-up access, and hosting services.  Today, David manages all things technical at WebMasters, supervises all programming tasks, and manages the technical support staff.
