KEYNOTE5360 / 5350

Most notebook computers today fall in to one of two categories - The desktop replacement notebook and the super slim notebook.  Desktop replacements have most of the features of a full sized computer like large screens and many different drives, but also have most of the size and weight.  This does not make for a very mobile computer.  Most users seeking desktop replacements rarely move their mobile computer.  At the other end of the spectrum are the Slim notebooks.  The attraction of these models is that they weigh only a couple of pounds and have a nice small size.  What is not promoted about these models is that all your devices (floppy drive, CD ROM, etc.) are external and you need to lug around all these external modules and hassle with a bunch of cables to complete simple tasks like saving a file to a diskette.

"Some are too big, some are too small, but this one's just right!"

The Keynote 5360/5350 is the answer for the true mobile user.  Many of the advanced features like 366Mhz processors, Composite TV output, Zoom Video Support, and Dual View technology found in desktop replacement models are built right in.  Also built in are the CD ROM and floppy drive, so you do not have to lug around external devices and fumble with the cumbersome cables.  This makes the system just right.

Power to fill your screen, not drain your battery.
Not all microprocessors are created equal. The 5360/5350 uses the Intel Mobile Pentium II (5360) or  Celeron (5350) processor.  This processor was specifically designed for use in mobile configurations.  The power management has been enhanced and the power consumption has been significantly reduced.  Many similar notebook computers use the standard Celeron or AMD processors, which were designed for use in desktop computers.  Desktop CPU's in small, portable designs will severely decrease the battery life and require multiple fans and other complicated mechanisms to keep the system cool.  The Mobile CPU in the Keynote 5360/5350 is able to keep cool with the use of a heat sink and an intelligent fan controller, which minimizes fan use to further extends battery life and makes for a notebook that sips battery power.

Embedded Technologies
The Keynote 5360/5350 is one of the first notebooks to embrace embedded technology.  Embedded technology allows more functions to be placed on the same piece of silicon.  This reduces the number of IC's (chips) needed which also reduces the number of supporting components.  Less components on the mainboard will increase battery life and decrease size and weight.  The Keynote 5360/5350's L2 Cache is built on the CPU, the sound hardware is built into the core logic chipset, and the video memory is built directly into the video controller.
